The genealogy of the Weigel Family begins with Rudolf Walter Weigel, my grandfather. He was born on April 25, 1923 and died November 15, 1999. He was born in Lößnitz, Saxony, Germany.
Luckily, before he died, he provided as much family information as he could gather to aid in our family research. Through correspondence with relatives on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean critical information such as birth, marriage, and death dates, as well as locations, were able to be gathered and reported. In many cases, supporting documents and photos were provided as well.
Unfortunately, despite the wealth of data, the Weigel Family line has been difficult to trace. To date it has not been possible to connect to any of the well researched and documented Weigel Family Genealogies. This is also the case for the other families that have married into the Weigels.
The Weigel Family originates in the village of Lößnitz, Saxony, Germany. All of the Weigel pedigree beyond the father of the author were born in Lößnitz. The oldest known Weigel pedigree ancestor of Erick Karl Weigel Jr. (the author) is Karl Heinrich William Weigel (b. 27 AUG 1837). Karl H.W. Weigel married Auguste M. Pfuller (b. 27 AUG 1846). The only offspring known to the author was Joahnnes Paul Weigel (b. 26 NOV 1876, d. 20 JUL 1949).
Johannes P. Weigel married Minna Ida Pfau (b. 25 MAR 1875, d. 01 JUL 1950). Minna I. Pfau was born and died in Lößnitz. Three daughters and one son were born to Johannes P. Weigel and Minna I. Pfau. There were: Hildegarde Weigel, Elisabeth Weigel, and Else Weigel, and Rudolf Johannes Weigel (b. 04 JAN 1904, d. 22 DEC 1975).
